Olmpics Update by Gus!

Rugby Sevens quarter final
Australia couldn’t hold their defence from early in the game over South Africa. South Africa took the lead first. They were on a mission to play with great spirit over their Southern Hemisphere rivals. The highlight try of the game was when Saebelo Senatla went over and just managed to ground the ball after a miracle dive to stop it from going dead. The end score of the big and hard match was 22 -5 to South Africa.
South Africa are on their way to winning their first gold for Rio Olympics 2016.
GO SOUTH AFRICA!!!!

Olympic Update by Dascha!

On day 5 of the 2016 Olympics in Rio, the Australian men’s Water Polo team nicknamed the “Sharks”, played a match against Japan and won 8-6. The Sharks next match is on day 7 against Serbia and on day 9 they will play Greece. So far the Sharks have won one match, tied a match, and lost one match. All of Australia will be hoping that the Sharks win their next two matches so they can win a gold medal at the Olympics. Go Australia!

Australia vs New Zealand Rugby Sevens Rio Olympics

And they scored a try! New Zealand started the game with a lead but as you know, Australia is a great team so they scored an awesome 2nd and 3rd try. After Portia from New Zealand was sent off for deliberately knocking the ball forward, Australia scored lots of tries because New Zealand was one player short. Despite Portia scoring a try in the last minute, New Zealand never caught up. The final score was 24 – 17 Australia’s way. Both teams were great role models to show that woman can be tough, fast, and powerful athletes!!

Breaking News!

On Friday night it was Parramatta vs Manly, the ultimate game of the season. It was an amazing match from both teams. Parramatta was struggling without two of their outstanding players but they still won the game 10 to 9.
Mr Slade was a Manly fan for a long time but because of Parramatta’s spectacular performance and Angelo’s wealth of knowledge on the team, he has switched sides completely and is now a proud supporter of the Parramatta Eels. In hindsight he wonders why he ever went for manly in the first place!

Zone Athletics Carnival

Congratulations to the 4S students that participated in the Zone Athletics carnival. You were both enthusiastic and good sports. A pleasure to take away to represent Tighes Hill. Thank you also to the parents that transported and hung around to cheer on our kids. The rest of the class that had a casual teacher on Friday and were split on Tuesday, were equally impressive with fantastic reports all around. Well done everyone!
