Strange Days by Eli

The crazy, scary and weird acrobats ran wildly down the cobbled street. The director danced around happily and grinned widely in his minute tuxedo. The crowd boomed with laughter as the HUGE acrobat threw the tiny man into the air. The juggler was as talented as Tony hawk. One of the acrobats slipped on his smelly and big backside. Everyone stopped and the acrobat feared for his job!

Strange Days by Grayson

It was midday and the band of crazy circus performers danced happily down the cobbled street! The big, strongman was throwing his partner up into the sky!

The acrobats were swinging themselves amazingly up into the cool air while the jugglers were juggling in between the mouldy, stinky, cracks in the stone path!

The trumpet player played brightly next to the green vines! Suddenly they stopped!

Athletics Carnival- by Evie and Lachlan

Last Wednesday K-6 went to Glendale Sports Centre for the athletics carnival. The teams Bryant, William, Elizabeth and Mitchell were cheering on their team mates all day.

It was too wet for the K-1 so we started off with the 8 years 100m boys then girls. While the races were on people were at the canteen or watching or sitting with their family or friends. Later in the day we did sport actives on the grass area. These are a few of the activities we did- shot put, long jump and then it started raining so we had to go back under the shelter. After the rain stopped we started doing some more races. Then we had to wait for the buses. Once we got to school we were the last ones there. When we got there we just played for the rest of the afternoon in the playground we were all tired then we got to go home. We had an awesome day.

Cruise Ship by Georgie

The gigantic cruise ship glided gracefully through the water, as though it wasn’t even there. It was so intense that Mrs Sparrow fainted. Then, the noisy, low-toned horn sounded and she sat up again with a jolt. The noise was so immense that a baby started to cry in the distance. I remembered I was going on a cruise in a month and I thought about how new it would be. The burning of the colossal engine and the salty air in my face. It would be amazing!

Breaking News by Jules!

The past year has seen a rise in the volume of cruise ship holidays within Australia. Last Monday the Carnival Cruise returned from a horror trip! An outbreak of gastro had spread throughout the ship’s many passengers.

The madness started in the ship’s unhygienic toilets. Passengers were coming down with the bug by the minute. Sadly an elderly man died. The passengers who weren’t infected retreated to their cabins hoping to escape the horrible sickness. Some passengers were in critical condition while others were only mildly infected.

Upon the ship’s return, many people were rushed to hospital, others drove home in a frenzy of screeching tires and revving engines. Some remaining passengers fainted from shock! We will deliver more information as it comes in.

Mika’s Week 6 Narrative

It was midnight. He sat there nervously, glaring at the thugs opposite him.  Leckman was irresponsible and reckless. Years of sailing and rundown ports had taught him to be clever. This was no different; Hobart was one of the worst places he’d visited.

Sweat ran down Leckman’s cheeks as he pulled the trick card from his pocket. He showed the thugs the card, “impossible” one of them whispered. Leckman held out his hand with a smug look on his face. The shorter thug placed a bag of silver coins in his palm. The larger man leaned closer to him. His breath smelt of musty beer. “Leave” he muttered.

Leckman stood and ran. He could hear the raspy voices of the two thugs getting into a fight as he reached the doorway. “I’m sure of it!” cried one of them. Leckman didn’t stay to listen. He flung himself outside and took a deep breath.

The air felt cool and moist. Leckman made his way to the docks. He climbed into the nearest boat just as the thugs he had ripped off came charging at him, they looked as mad as bulls!

“Get him” they screeched. Leckman fumbled with the ropes that held the boat in place. He untied the last knot and he floated away from the thugs. Their voices became fainter and fainter as he floated away into the night. What now? He thought.

Leckman untied the spring on the bag of silver coins. The money glinted in the moonlight and he smiled mysteriously.

After staring at his prize for a few minutes, Leckman made up his mind. His future fell into place. He would sail back home to England to find the house he had built three years ago, he would use the money to get a job. He turned to face the thugs that were now a speck in the distance. Leckman sighed and turned back to the wheel. Goodbye, he thought as he drifted away.

-Cross Country-

On Wednesday the 2nd of March 2016, Tighes Hill Public School 3-6 students went to the cross country and tried to get into zone. Others just walked the course and had some fun hanging out with their friends. Everyone walked down to Islington Park. When we got there Mr Slade had already set up the course ready to run. Everyone had fun and it was a great day.Thank you for organising it Mr Slade!

Some photos still to come
